MCS, a United Kingdom-based certification body for renewable energy products and installers, has extended the grace period for solar mounting certification until November 10, 2025. Certification for several mounting products was withdrawn on May 10, 2025, as differences in approach among Certification Bodies were identified and required further review. As explained by MCS, affected products with the label "GRACE PERIOD" in the MCS Product Directory may continue to be used by installers. Such products are listed with certification dates ranging from May 10 to November 10, 2025, providing traceability and transparency to installers and customers alike. MCS has confirmed that clause 5.5.5 of MIS 3002 is applicable, allowing installation of flat roof systems until certified kits become available. Version 3 of the MCS 012 Standard has expanded its scope to cover mechanically and non-mechanically attached systems with ≤10° roof pitch. MCS also held workshops with manufacturers and Certification Bodies, which agreed to research international standards and present findings to upcoming working group meetings.
