Kiwa PVEL, a US-based independent testing laboratory for photovoltaic modules, has released its 2025 PV Module Reliability Scorecard based on its Product Qualification Program. The program evaluates factory-witnessed modules under seven stress categories, including PID, LID+LETID, PAN performance, and hail resistance. According to Kiwa PVEL, 50 manufacturers were recognized as top performers in at least one category, and nine excelled in all seven. Only three manufacturers also achieved top status in PAN performance. While PAN and PID results showed improvement, failure rates increased in hail and mechanical stress tests. UV-induced degradation showed partial recovery but remains a concern. Kiwa PVEL reported that 83% of manufacturers failed at least one test, marking the highest failure rate to date. Only modules submitted after October 1, 2023, were taken eligible for inclusion in the Scorecard.
