The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) has been granted national recognition in the category of “Research and Development” from the Foundation for the German Sustainability Award e.V.. The award recognizes Germany-based Fraunhofer ISE for its work in renewable energy innovation, and applying sustainability considerations systematically within its science and administration. Fraunhofer ISE has developed climate-neutral systemic models for municipalities, neighborhoods, and enterprises, which are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Fraunhofer ISE has reinforced Germany’s efforts towards climate-neutral infrastructure and long-term decarbonization, with its structured, science-based methods and ongoing evaluations of solutions. Earlier in 2023, the institute won 1st Place in “Research” category in Germany’s INNOspace Masters competition organized by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
