The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has provided $45 million through the Advancing Renewables Program to help Fortescue build the Pilbara Solar Innovation Hub. The project aimed to test new technologies that lower solar energy costs and make building solar projects faster and easier. It operated across Fortescue’s renewable portfolio, including the 190 MW Cloudbreak solar farm. Early projects included trials with Built Robotics for autonomous piling and 5B’s prefabricated Maverick system for rapid modular deployment. The Hub tested up to ten innovations, with results shared with ARENA and industry to support wider renewable energy advancement.
