According to the AleaSoft Energy Forecasting’s analysis, electricity prices have declined across Europe during the week starting April 28, 2025, as renewable generation has increased, demand was reduced, and gas prices have fallen. Germany, France, and Italy have recorded new daily solar generation highs, while Spain and Portugal have experienced declines due to a blackout on April 28. Wind generation was higher across all major markets, led by Portugal (+47%), Germany (+18%), and Italy (+17%). Electricity demand has decreased in most countries, with Spain (‑13%) and France (‑11%) showing the largest drops due to warmer weather and the May 1 holiday. Italy was the only country with a demand increase, rising 3.5% after earlier holidays. Weekly average prices were €15.36 (~$17.06)/MWh in Spain and €16.50 (~$18.32)/MWh in Portugal. Gas was at €32.11 (~$35.64)/MWh, and CO₂ futures have reached €68.76 (~$76.32)/t.
