Solar installation is getting faster and cheaper with on-site automated factories Image Source: MIT News
Charge Robotics , founded by MIT alumni has developed portable, automated factories to assemble and install solar components on-site. As solar panel prices decline, installation costs have become a major bottleneck. The system automates the process by feeding tracks, mounting brackets, and panels into an assembly line, with a robotic vehicle placing the finished sections in their final position. This method reduces labor costs and installation time, addressing inefficiencies in large-scale solar farm construction and improving deployment speed
