Azul Pack, a Brazilian manufacturer, developed a reflective membrane to improve albedo and energy yield in bifacial solar plants. It is available in two versions, Techreflex Geo and Techreflex Film, with customizable widths and thicknesses. Applied in a fixed-structure photovoltaic plant in Januária, Minas Gerais, it increased inverter output by 7%. Efficiency gains can reach 10.5% with an integrated battery and up to 15% in tracker-based systems. The membrane helps control weed growth, lowers maintenance costs, and protects solar plant foundations. It lasts up to 20 years and is made from chemically stable materials. Albedo Power Flex distributes the product and works with the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) to assess and enhance its efficiency. By increasing solar reflectance, reflective membranes help bifacial modules absorb more light. With natural soil reflectivity in solar plants generally below 20%, energy generation remains constrained.
