Swift Current Energy announced that Google has made a tax equity investment in the Double Black Diamond Solar project, a 800 MWdc solar farm under construction in southern Illinois. Set to be the largest solar project east of the Mississippi River, it is expected to begin operations by early 2025. The project will reduce carbon emissions by one million tons annually and power 100,000 homes. It has secured financing from several banks and will employ U.S.-made First Solar modules and Nextracker trackers. The project will contribute $100 million in tax revenue to local communities.
