ACWA Power has commenced commercial operations at the 600 MW Al Shuaibah 1 solar plant, which received its commercial operation certificate from the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). The financial impact of this operation is expected to be reflected in the fourth quarter of 2024. In August 2023, a consortium consisting of ACWA Power, Water and Electricity Holding Company (Badeel), and Saudi Aramco announced the financial closure of both Al Shuaibah 1 and 2 Independent Water and Power Projects (IWPPs), totaling a combined capacity exceeding 2.6 GW. SPPC, as the principal buyer, manages project tendering and power procurement. The ownership of Al Shuaibah 1 and 2 is divided, with ACWA Power holding 35.01%, Badeel 34.99%, and Aramco 30%.
