Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, has announced the operational status of its 150 MW South Cheyenne Solar Facility in Laramie County, Wyoming. This marks the company’s 30th solar facility and its first in Wyoming. The energy produced, along with associated renewable energy credits, will be sold under a 20-year PPA with Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power, and exclusively powers a datacenter. The facility was acquired from Qcells USA Corp. in September 2023 and has created over 200 jobs during peak construction. With this addition, Southern Power’s solar portfolio now exceeds 2,740 MW, contributing to its overall 5,280 MW renewable fleet, comprising both solar and wind facilities across the United States.
