Germany-based Sono Group N.V., parent company of Sono Motors GmbH, has achieved National Type Approval in Germany for vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (ViPV). The certification, granted by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, applies to the Solar Bus Kit. This retrofit solution integrates photovoltaic modules into bus roofs, reducing diesel consumption and CO2 emissions while improving energy efficiency. The approval ensures compliance with EU safety and environmental standards and simplifies regulatory processes. It is expected to accelerate market adoption in regions following ECE standards and support sustainable transportation goals.
