Renewable energy giant Sonnedix secured a €260 million green loan in December 2023, marking one of Italy’s largest solar project financing deals of the year. The funds will support the acquisition and construction of renewable projects in Italy, including two PV plants in Sicily and Sardinia with a total capacity of 200 MW, following Sonnedix’s €500 million loan facility in the same month for its European and UK renewable energy pipeline. A consortium of banks, including Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, CaixaBank, La Banque Postale, and Crédit Agricole, granted the loan. Sonnedix received legal advice from Ashurst and hedging advice from Riverside Risk Advisors, while lenders were advised by Green Horse Legal Advisory, EOS Consulting, IPG-Lex&Tax, Marsh, Valecap, Baringa, and KPMG.
