SolarDuck and RWE have successfully installed the Merganser, an offshore floating solar pilot project, off the Dutch coast. This pilot project is designed to withstand the challenging conditions of the North Sea, including waves reaching up to 13.5 m. With a capacity of 0.5 MWp, Merganser is a significant step toward the commercialization of offshore floating solar technology, the company says, adding further that it showcases the robustness and reliability of SolarDuck’s design. The successful installation of Merganser highlights the potential for integrating floating solar technology with existing offshore energy infrastructure.
