Canada based SolarBank Corporation has received plan approval and a special use permit for its 3.25 MW DC ground-mount solar project in Camillus, New York. Located on a closed landfill, this community solar site will contribute to the company’s independent power producer portfolio, which boasts 50.76 MW of capacity. As per the company, the project will deliver green energy to 360 homes and offer credits to subscribers. It is also eligible for incentives under the NYSERDA NY-Sun Program. With the special use permit in place, the company will now focus on securing financing, with construction slated to commence in Q3 2024. Although risks related to financing, construction, and policy changes remain, SolarBank is committed to advancing its renewable energy initiatives while managing these challenges.
