Canada-based SolarBank Corporation is set to develop a 13.8 MW DC ground-mount solar power project, named the Grandview project, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This initiative is part of a broader three-project plan totaling 24.8 MW DC. As per SolarBank, the company has secured a lease for the project site and is progressing with permitting, interconnection, and financing. The project’s success depends on the Pennsylvania Senate’s approval of House Bill 1842, which would allow community solar development. However, the company claims challenges, including legislative uncertainties, interconnection approvals, and the continued availability of third-party financing. Risks such as policy changes affecting solar incentives will also remain challenging, which could impact future solar projects, says SolarBank.
