Sembcorp Industries’ subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra, secured a 150 MW solar project with a 300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from SECI. The project, part of SECI’s 2 GW ISTS solar initiative, was set to provide four hours of daily peak power over a 25-year period. Expected to be operational within 24 months of signing the PPA, it was to be funded through internal funds and debt. This was Sembcorp’s first solar and BESS hybrid project in India, bringing its renewables capacity in the country to nearly 6 GW and its global capacity to 16.5 GW.
