Sappi Southern Africa has finalized a 175 GWh per year renewable energy PPA with Enpower Trading, a licensed private electricity trading entity. This aligns with Sappi’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and meeting Science Based Target goals. By adopting renewable energy solutions in its South African operations, Sappi aims to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 6% and 4% respectively. The power will come from SolarAfrica Energy’s Sun Central PV project, one of South Africa’s largest solar farms in the Northern Cape. The agreement, signed in April, will commence power delivery by December 2025, marking an important step in utility-scale renewable energy partnerships between Sappi and Enpower Trading.
