The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) of India has partnered with India-based Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) to initiate a PV plant in Kerala. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), CIAL has committed to provide technical expertise and preparing a detailed project report without any consultancy fees. The consultancy process is expected to conclude within two months. The solar plant aims to reduce TDB’s INR 15 crore (~$ 1.73 million) annual electricity expenses, including power distribution and transmission in the Sabarimala area managed by KSEB. CIAL has extensive experience in renewable energy, operating with an installed solar capacity of 50 MW. The project will be funded through CSR contributions, addressing the high electricity costs incurred during pilgrimage seasons and year-round operations.
