RWE expands its solar portfolio with a new 20 MW PV plant in Bedburg, Germany. Over 36,600 solar modules will power approximately 5,400 households. The project is the seventh in the Rhenish lignite area, many with storage. It's built on recultivated land near the A44 motorway and construction is underway. Expected to be operational by late summer, it's complemented by an agrivoltaics demonstration plant nearby. RWE also operates three large PV storage power plants in the region and is realizing two more solar projects in the Hambach opencast mine. With over 20 years of experience, RWE plans further photovoltaic ventures. They'll invest €11 billion in German green energy by 2030.
