RWE is constructing its first utility-scale solar project in Illinois, the 150 MWac Casey Fork Solar, to support the state’s growing clean energy demand. This project will generate over $36 million in economic activity and create more than 200 local jobs during construction. The solar farm, located in Jefferson County, will help meet Illinois’ carbon-reduction goals set by the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act of 2021. Three utility companies, Ameren, ComEd, and MidAmerican Energy, will purchase renewable energy credits from this project. Once operational, it will add 750 MW to RWE’s renewable capacity in Illinois, powering 165,000 homes and businesses. The project will also contribute approximately $22 million in property taxes, including $13 million for local schools.
