Pivot Energy, a national renewable energy provider, has partnered with American EV maker Rivian on a 60 MWdc solar energy project. Rivian will purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from 50 MWdc of solar and subscribe to 10 MWdc of community solar from Pivot Energy for its Illinois manufacturing facility. This initiative aims to channel clean energy into new solar development regions and support local community efforts. The projects will generate 79,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, enough to power 10,892 households. Rivian and Pivot Energy will also invest $5,000 per MW built into local community organizations. These funds will support energy burden reduction, workforce development in the solar industry, and agricultural energy projects. Rivian’s strategy includes enabling 2 GW of renewable energy for EV charging, supporting 7 billion miles of renewable driving yearly.
