Indian multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is focusing on solar module production in India, specifically at its new facility in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The company plans to begin manufacturing solar photovoltaic (PV) modules by the end of 2024. This facility is part of a broader effort to create an integrated solar production hub that will include the production of modules, cells, glass, wafers, ingots, and polysilicon. The first phase, with an initial annual capacity of 10 GW, is expected to be completed in the coming quarters, with provisions for expansion to 20 GW. To support these initiatives, Reliance has established a prototyping, testing, and validation lab in India and is expanding its Advanced Solar Technology Lab in Singapore. The company, which holds a 20% stake in perovskite solar developer Caelux, is developing first-generation bifacial solar panels using indigenized HJT technology. Additionally, Reliance is working on perovskite solar cells and back-contact HJT-IBC technology, with plans to bring these advanced modules to market by 2026.
