Qcells and Hanwha Aerospace USA (HAU), both subsidiaries of Hanwha Group, have completed two solar and energy storage projects in Connecticut. These projects fulfill HAU’s energy needs, with Qcells supplying nearly 20% of the required energy through a 20-year PPA. Situated in Cheshire and Newington, the projects boast a combined capacity of 1.7 MW for solar and 1.2 MWh for storage, benefiting from Connecticut’s Energy Storage Solutions program. Anticipated utility bill savings over the agreement’s duration could surpass $2 million. Moreover, these initiatives are projected to offset more than 32,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions annually, akin to removing over 7,000 gas-powered vehicles from the roads each year. The projects received support from incentives provided by the Inflation Reduction Act, which include a 30% tax credit for both storage and solar installations.
