SpecFive, a US-based developer of communication hardware, has launched the Voyager, a solar-powered, vehicle-mounted communication device for off-grid operations. The device is powered by a 6W monocrystalline solar panel that charges an integrated 3300mAh LiPo battery. According to SpecFive, this solar PV system enables the device to operate for up to two days actively or five days on standby without sunlight. The Voyager has been designed with an SX1262 915MHz LoRa transceiver compatible with Meshtastic mesh networks, offering communication ranges of up to five miles in rural areas. A precision GNSS module supports multiple satellite navigation systems for reliable location tracking. The weatherproof enclosure is built from ASA material and uses neodymium magnets for secure vehicle mounting. SpecFive said that the device is suitable for emergency responders, field teams, and outdoor users operating in remote areas with no network coverage.
