OpenSolar, a San Francisco-based solar software provider, has launched OpenSolar 3.0 on 18 September 2025, describing it as its largest platform release to date. The new system has been introduced as a free AI-powered operating environment that combines project design, lead generation, financing, permitting, customer communications, and workflow management into a unified platform. The latest release has also incorporated AI-driven system design and lead generation to accelerate proposals and improve accuracy, while enhanced mobile compatibility and collaboration features were added to support team productivity. According to OpenSolar, the integration of advanced automation within the platform is expected to reduce design time, expand installer reach, and improve workflow efficiency. OpenSolar further stated that future versions would expand integration with hardware vendors, financial partners, and permitting agencies to improve accessibility and reduce operational overheads. Since 2019, OpenSolar has provided more than 25,000 installers across over 160 countries with professional-grade design and sales tools made available without cost. Earlier this year, OpenSolar has partnered with Sunnova to enhance AI-driven solar design, strengthening its position in expanding digital solutions for installers.
