US-based Ascent Solar Technologies has entered into an agreement with a Colorado-based space solar array provider. The agreement is to supply its lightweight, flexible thin-film PV technology for evaluation and potential integration. As per Ascent Solar Technologies, the delivery of these units is scheduled for completion by the end of July 2025. The company stated that working with another Colorado-based solar firm helps improve supply chain control and customer support across the space and defense sectors. Ascent Solar Technologies has developed its CIGS PV modules with proven spaceflight performance and produces them domestically at its 5 MW facility in Thornton, Colorado. The company noted that its solar array solutions can be delivered within six to eight weeks, which is significantly faster than the typical nine to twelve-month timelines reported for most competitors in the space-grade solar hardware industry.
