Brussels-based European Commission conducted a high-level Implementation Dialogue on June 11, 2025, to discuss delays in permitting for renewable energy projects. The meeting, led by the Commissioner for Housing and Energy, discussed implementation of Directive 2023/2413 and Regulation EU/2024/223, which seek to accelerate clean energy infrastructure approvals. Allowing complexity is a major impediment to achieving the EU's 42.5% renewable energy target in final energy consumption by 2030. The discussion, as part of European Sustainable Energy Week, gathered policymakers, NGOs, and business representatives to evaluate existing measures and setadditional actions. The event is synchronized with wider EU policies, including the Competitiveness Compass and Clean Industrial Deal, that underpin industrial growth, energy security, and decarbonization. According to the Commission, these every-other-month Implementation Dialogues are designed to augment regulatory transparency and coordination across member states, enable faster deployment of renewable projects and aid long-term clean energy ambitions.
