The World Bank has granted a $430 million package to facilitate the Tunisia Energy Reliability, Efficiency, and Governance Improvement Program intended to modernize the electricity sector. The initiative aims to raise renewable capacity, enhance STEG’s operational and financial outcomes, and elevate governance in line with Tunisia’s transition agenda. This support should help attract $2.8 billion in private investment for 2.8 GW of solar and wind by 2028, lower supply costs, strengthen STEG’s cost recovery, and diminish state subsidies through the program period.
