SolarPower Europe has launched the International Solar Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI) to boost European solar exports, secure financing, and strengthen the global solar supply chain. Announced in Brussels, the initiative helps manufacturers expand into international clean-tech markets while enhancing Europe’s competitiveness. ISMI’s initial participants include solar manufacturers from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and Switzerland, covering key areas such as modules, inverters, mounting systems, and connection solutions. The initiative also advocates for export and development policies that align with EU partner countries' economic goals. A main focus is securing public financing from the EU Global Gateway strategy, European Development Finance Institutions, and Export Credit Agencies to fund production fabs and export opportunities. Between 2021 and 2027, the Global Gateway strategy aims to mobilize €300 billion in investments.
