The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the US trade association for solar and storage industries, has created two national standards adopted by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The ANSI/SEIA 401-2025 standard establishes required training and disclosure requirements to reinforce ethical sales practices and transparent communication of contract terms and technology specifics. The ANSI/SEIA 301-2025 standard includes technician training requirements for system maintenance, safety, performance monitoring, and record-keeping to enhance reliability. The two standards were developed through working groups with manufacturers, installers, financiers, consumer organizations, laboratories, and government agencies. SEIA will introduce a web platform to provide access to the standards and ancillary implementation tools. Individual and company certification programs will be initiated in November 2025, with testing to authenticate compliance. SEIA is also developing nine other standards in areas of supply chain traceability, decommissioning of projects, and other business areas.
