The Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has recently extended the implementation timeline of the PV Park and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects scheme by three years. The new deadline now extends up to FY2028-29, i.e., 31 March 2029, to allow for the completion of existing deployments and the liabilities that were incurred. MNRE has stated that the extension was approved without additional financial implications and retains the scheme’s original financial outlay. As part of the decision, new sanctions and approvals for projects are permitted only until 31 March 2026, after which the focus is exclusively on sanctioned projects. The Solar Park scheme, which was first introduced in 2014, was designed to support large-scale solar development by providing land, infrastructure, and facilitation to developers. The scheme has undergone several revisions through subsequent official memoranda, and the latest extension was issued by MNRE’s RE Park Division with ministerial approval.
