Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has published an amendment to the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana implementation guidelines for improved administrative coordination and monitoring. The 6 October 2025 released notification amends paragraph 4(f) of Office Memorandum No. 318/17/2024-GCRT (Part 7) and introduces a more detailed Awareness and Outreach Committee framework. The reinstated committee consists of representatives from the National Power Infrastructure Agency, MNRE's Rooftop Solar and Internal Finance wings, REC Limited, and the Central Bureau of Communication. The committee has been tasked with reviewing proposals, evaluating awareness campaigns, tracking the utilization of funds, and taking care that activities align with the objectives of the program and provisions of the budget. The amendment has been sanctioned by the concerned authorities, and will replace the earlier system of limited state-level representatives, with increased representation of institutions to enhance transparency and uniformity in the country in the implementation of rooftop solar programs in India.
