The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), a New Delhi-based government body managing renewable energy development, has revised the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) of PV modules through a memorandum issued on 19 September 2025. According to MNRE, the update was released as Revision-XLII under the 2019 order and included additions, deletions, and provisional enlistments. The memorandum has specified that crystalline silicon modules must achieve 20% efficiency, while cadmium telluride modules must reach 19% efficiency in utility and grid-scale projects. For rooftop and solar pumping systems, MNRE has mandated 19.5% efficiency for crystalline silicon and 18.5% efficiency for cadmium telluride modules. Off-grid applications below 200 W were required to achieve 18% efficiency, while other categories must meet 19% for crystalline silicon and 18% for cadmium telluride. MNRE has confirmed that enlistment validity is dependent on maintaining BIS certification, with automatic delisting applied when certification lapses.
