The Global Renewables Summit 2025 is scheduled for 22 & 23 September in New York during the UN General Assembly and Climate Week NYC, organized by Climate Group, a UK-based non-profit organization, Fortescue, an Australian energy and resources corporation, and the Global Renewables Alliance, an EU-based industry association. COP30 Presidency has assured that global targets are still aimed at tripling renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030, in accordance with international energy transition priorities. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is a U.N.-related intergovernmental organization headquartered in Abu Dhabi that reported that over ninety percent of renewable energy new projects are already cheaper than burning fossil fuels, thereby fortifying the economic case for fast-paced rollout. African heads of states have signed onto a 2030 goal of 300 GW with a $100 billion financing commitment from regional financing institutions; and the European Commission pointed out half of Europe's electricity already being renewable-based. The Bahamas has highlighted the link between climate resilience and human rights, which will inform further summit deliberations. The Summit will also discuss energy security, national energy planning, capital flows, industrialization, and grid expansion in preparation for COP30 in Brazil.
