The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), an electricity market regulating body of India, has approved a tariff of INR 3.52 (~$0.039) per kWh. The tariff approval applies to 2 GW of PV portfolio integrated with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh of ESS under Tranche XVII. The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a government-owned renewable energy implementing agency based in New Delhi, conducted the selection process through a national competitive bidding program to procure firm and dispatchable renewable power. The bidding was held under the Ministry of Power’s guidelines for tariff-based discovery and allocation of inter-state transmission system-connected projects with energy storage integration. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited and Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited were awarded 500 MW each, Reliance NU Suntech Private Limited received 700 MW, while Hero Solar Energy Private Limited and Solarcraft Power India 8 Private Limited secured 300 MW each. SECI will sign 25-year PPAs with these developers and corresponding Power Sale Agreements with BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited.
