Pivot Energy, a US-based solar provider, has secured a 5-year framework agreement with Microsoft to develop up to 500 MWAC of community-scale solar projects across the US from 2025 to 2029. This deal is Pivot Energy’s largest Renewable Energy Credit (REC) agreement and represents Microsoft’s first major distributed generation portfolio. The agreement will enable Pivot Energy to advance around 150 solar projects in about 100 communities across 20 states. Microsoft will purchase the RECs for these projects over 20 years, with initial projects expected to begin by late 2024. Over two decades, these projects are projected to produce over 1 billion kWh annually, enough to power roughly 90,000 homes.
