Australia-based Pacific Blue, a fully renewable energy generator and retailer, received approval from Burdekin Shire Council to expand its Haughton Solar Farm by 1154 hectares in North Queensland. The expansion will add 300 MW of solar capacity and a 200 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), raising the farm’s total capacity to 400 MW. This upgrade is set to supply power to an additional 110,000 homes. Once completed, the solar farm’s capacity will reach 500 MW, enough to power 290,000 homes. The project is expected to create 405 construction jobs and 10 permanent roles while supporting community projects.
