US-headquartered Otter Tail Power Company, a subsidiary of Otter Tail Corporation, has proposed two solar energy projects, Solway Solar (50 MW) in Minnesota and Abercrombie Solar (295 MW) in North Dakota. The projects aim to generate 345 MW combined, enhancing the company’s renewable energy portfolio. Solway Solar, leveraging existing transmission facilities, will commence operations in 2026, while Abercrombie Solar, pending permits, will be operational by 2028. Together, they are expected to provide $28 million in tax benefits over 35 years and create 370 construction jobs. The initiative aligns with Otter Tail’s Integrated Resource Plan, targeting 57% renewable energy by 2030.
