Origami Solar has established a fully American supply chain for its patented steel solar module frames by partnering with leading US steel fabricators: Welser Profile, Priefert, and Unimacts. According to the company, this move mitigates risks associated with trans-Pacific shipping, foreign dependence, and carbon-intensive components. The company plans to begin shipping these durable, environmentally friendly steel frames by the first quarter of 2025, ensuring deliveries to module manufacturers within one to two days. Steel frames offer superior durability and a 90% reduction in embodied carbon compared to aluminum frames. Additionally, this initiative supports job creation and maintains high industry standards, with Priefert’s Benton, Arkansas facility planning to hire up to 70 skilled workers over the next three years.
