Orb Energy, a leading player in the Indian solar industry has launched its first 35 MW (DC) ground-mounted solar park in Arsikere, Karnataka. Covering 110 acres, the park is designed to produce 5.24 crore units of green power annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 45,000 tons each year. This project is targeted towards small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region. Orb Energy plans to develop approximately 400 MW of solar parks for SMEs across India by the end of the decade, with an estimated investment of around INR 2,000 crores. Currently, 27 MW (DC) has been commissioned across 90 acres, with completion expected by mid-financial year. Off-site solar system owners can expect electricity costs to be around INR 3.5-4.0 per unit, lower than the current grid tariffs of INR 8-9 per unit.
