Uttar Pradesh has approved solar projects worth INR 10,000 crore(~$1.15 billion) to achieve 22 GW renewable capacity. Three 2 GW projects will be set up in Bundelkhand. NTPC Green Energy will develop 800 MW in Chitrakoot and 600 MW in Lalitpur. Hinduja Group will handle 600 MW in Jhansi. UPNEDA aims to complete these by December 2025. Bids for a 1.2 GW project in Jalaun have been floated. Projects are also planned in Mirzapur, Kanpur, and Prayagraj. Floating solar plants are being explored with NTPC and others. Solar integration in Jal Jeevan Mission is expected to save INR1 trillion (~$11.5 billion). These projects will cut CO₂ emissions by 1.3 million tons annually and generate 39 million carbon credits over 30 years.
