The largest floating PV plant in North Rhine-Westphalia, boasting an installed capacity of 5.6 MW, has been officially inaugurated at the Holemans gravel plant Ellerdonk in Wesel-Bislich. Implemented by a Rees-based company, Holemans GmbH, the floating PV system covers approximately 3.1 hectares, equivalent to nearly four football pitches. With over 10,000 modules mounted on 4,500 floats, the plant is expected to generate nearly five million kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually. This output can meet the needs of approximately 2,000 households, resulting in a reduction of 2,100 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
