US-based Nextracker and the University of California, Berkeley Engineering have partnered to establish the CALNEXT Center for Solar Energy Research, supported by a $6.5 million contribution from Nextracker. The center will advance solar power plant technologies, enhance utility-scale performance, and develop a cutting-edge solar test field. Faculty and graduate students are already submitting research proposals. The partnership also incorporates solar technologies into UC Berkeley’s academic programs, offering students hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, Nextracker’s internship and mentoring programs will prepare students for careers in the renewable energy sector. The initiative supports collaborative research to improve the efficiency and scalability of solar technologies.
