Neoen, a leading renewable energy producer, has launched its Fox Coulee solar farm in Starland County, Alberta, which will be fully operational in the coming weeks. According to the company, the 93 MWp plant has been producing clean electricity since December 2023 and will generate around 100 GWh annually. This is enough to power 20,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by 70,000 tons per year. Neoen owns the farm and plans to sell a significant portion of the electricity and its environmental benefits via power purchase agreements, with the remainder sold on Alberta’s deregulated market. Neoen aims to become a leading player in Canada, with its portfolio including the 400 MW / 1,600 MWh Grey Owl Storage in Ontario, backed by a recent 380 MW contract.
