National Grid Renewables has begun operations at the Wild Springs Solar Project in Pennington County, South Dakota. This project is the largest solar initiative in the state, boasting a capacity of 128 MW within the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). Secured by a 114 MW PPA with Basin Electric Power Cooperative, the project is projected to generate approximately $29.5 million in direct economic impact and $12 million in new tax revenue over its first 20 years. National Grid Renewables plans to contribute $500,000 to the local New Underwood school district during this period. Environmentally, the project aims to avert 190,000 metric tons of CO2 annually and is set to generate enough energy for approximately 37,000 homes annually, totaling 740,000 homes over two decades.
