US–based National Grid Renewables has initiated construction on its Dodson Creek Solar Project in Highland County, Ohio. This 117 MW project is the company’s fourth solar project in its Ohio portfolio and the second in Highland County. The project will utilize First Solar’s next-gen Series 7 modules manufactured at its Toledo, Ohio facility. Spanning 1,300 acres, the project will create 200 construction jobs and is expected to begin operations by mid-2025. Kiewit has been selected as the EPC partner. The project will significantly reduce carbon emissions, avoiding 198,400 metric tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to taking 44,000 cars off the road.
