Mercedes-Benz developed solar paint technology designed to enhance electric vehicle efficiency and sustainability. The photovoltaic system, made from non-toxic, readily available materials, was reported to generate electricity for up to 12,000 km annually under ideal conditions. Covering a mid-size SUV’s 11 square meters, the paint offered self-charging capability and aimed to reduce charging stops, even functioning when vehicles were parked. Mercedes-Benz planned to apply this solar paint to all vehicle surfaces. Additionally, the company researched neuromorphic computing to improve AI energy efficiency, targeting a 90% reduction in data processing energy for autonomous vehicles.
