Maxeon Solar Technologies, Ltd. has initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against REC Solar Holdings AS in the Eastern District of Texas. The lawsuit alleges REC Solar’s violation of Maxeon’s patents concerning TOPCon solar cell technology. With a global patent portfolio exceeding 1,650 granted patents and over 330 pending patent applications, Maxeon safeguards its IBC, Shingled Hypercell, and TOPCon technologies. Maxeon underscores its commitment to fair competition and vows to vigorously defend its patent rights in the United States and globally. The company perceives intellectual property infringement, alongside injurious dumping and subsidy-driven overproduction, as unfair trade practices distorting solar manufacturing markets.
