UAE-based Yellow Door Energy, an independent power producer, has signed a 24.5MW solar power purchase agreement with POWERX for a project in Leeudoringstad, North West Province. The project planned to install over 40,000 solar panels, generating 57.5GWh of electricity in its first year and reducing 59,800 metric tons of carbon emissions. A 43km overhead electrical line was set to connect the solar park to an Eskom substation, improving grid access. The project was set to create over 500 jobs. Construction was planned to start in mid-2025 and finish in 2026. Yellow Door Energy oversaw funding, designing, building, running, and maintaining the Naledi Ya YDE Solar Park. The agreement aimed to deliver affordable, clean electricity through the national grid.
