Velto Renewables, backed by La Caisse (formerly CDPQ), has acquired photovoltaic portfolios in Spain totaling 260 MW. The transaction included 163 MW of assets from Helia II FCR, promoted in 2018 by Bankinter Investment SGEIC and Plenium Partners, and an additional 97 MW portfolio contributed by Plenium Partners. The 53 operating assets are located in different Spanish regions and were valued at about €1.1 billion (~$ 1.29 billion).The projects generated over 360 GWh a year, cut 36,400 tons of CO2, and powered nearly 100,000 homes, similar to Pamplona or Santander. The acquisition grewVelto’s presence in the Iberian Peninsula and linked well with its existing plants. The deal still required regulatory approval and standard closing steps, with financial, legal, and technical advisers assisting both parties.
